Introduction / History of DOT (CUSTOMS), LAHORE

Originally, at the time of Independence it was the Customs Training School, Lahore which used to provide training to the Customs officers and staff. However, in 1965, the Financial Services Academy, Walton, Lahore was assigned this task. In 1973, through Administrative Reforms, when the Federal Services Academy became Civil Services Academy, the Directorate of Inspection and Training was established at Karachi to fulfill this job.

Later, an independent Directorate of Training was established at Lahore in 2000. Since the central Directorate General is at Karachi hence this Directorate has been working as Regional Directorate of Training & Research( Customs),Lahore.

Since its establishment, this Directorate has been providing in service I professional training to the officers / officials of the Customs Department from BPS (5-20), in addition to holding different seminars and Briefing sessions etc.

This office has, so far, trained over 20,000 officers / officials of the Lahore Region, comprising all the Customs Establishments in the Province of Punjab, excluding Rawalpindi.

The Directorate of Training & Research( Customs),Lahore is presently,c o-located within the Directorate General of Training & Research (Inland Revenue), Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore.
